Nearly 100 Woodlawn Residents Attend Weatherization Workshop Co-Sponsored By WECAN And Woodlawn Community Service Corporation | Eighty (80) Woodlawn residents came out on a brilliantly sunny Saturday morning, May 17, to attend the Weatherization Workshop co-sponsored by WECAN, Woodlawn Community Service Corporation and AKArama Foundation Inc. Theta Omega Chapter at their community service center.
Intake staff from the CEDA (Community Economic Development Association of Illinois) Weatherization project took more than 50 applications from residents who applied for weatherization benefits - new heating or cooling units, retrofitted windows and doors, ramps and other energy-saving repairs. The attendees also received information on community services from Neighborhood Housing Services, South Side Community Federal Credit Union, Cook County Assessors Office, Cook County Board Of Review, and Woodlawn Community Service Corporation.
“We had a great turnout, which proves how hungry people in this community are for services and resources that help them improve the quality of their lives," said Executive Director Mattie C. Butler, shown below speaking with a community resident (center photo) as residents wait their turn for CEDA assistance (left photo) and staff from the Cook County Assessor's Office
